The residents of Michigan are reeling after the latest round of the deepest and most painful budget cuts yet. Michigan’s
fiscal mess, being felt in every corner of the state, stems from more than just tough economic times. Plummeting revenues, a
sorely out-of-date tax structure, poorly thought-out tax cuts and the massive decline in the auto
industry have all contributed to the state’s current situation.

This Forum will feature a distinguished panel of presenters who will provide an overview of
Michigan’s current fiscal situation and tax structure, suggest proposals to address the fiscal crisis and
discuss how Michigan can recover and move forward.

PRESENTERS
Charley Ballard, Professor of Economics at Michigan State University
Mitch Bean, Director of the Michigan House Fiscal Agency
Dave Hollister, President & CEO of Prima Civitas Foundation

For those unable to come to Lansing, the League is offering the option of participating in a live webcast of the Policy
Forum starting at 10:00 a.m.
