It has not been the best of starts for the Trenton hockey team this season, but the Trojans (4-4) did bounce back from an embarrassing 8-0 loss to Novi Detroit Catholic Central on Dec. 12 with a 3-1 home win over Roosevelt Saturday.
It was an exciting, up-tempo game with all the scoring coming in the middle period.
Trenton carried much of the play in the first period, outshooting the Bears 17-11 but Wyandotte goalie Justin Armatis was stellar, stopping all 17 Trenton drives, including several from point-blank range.
Orchard Lake St. Mary’s currently sits at 1-3 in the MIHL’s North Division, 6-3 overall
– Its league losses have come to Detroit Catholic Central – twice – which is ranked No. 2 in Division 1, and once to Cranbrook-Kingswood, which is ranked No. 1 in Division 3. So their schedule has been as tough as any in the early going.
– The team is pretty young with just four seniors. But there are 17 juniors. Cooper Marody – just a sophomore – is a player that has a lot of the league’s other coaches talking about. He leads the team with 12 points in nine games.
