Statewide Social Service Advocacy Groups to Urge
Protection of Poor and Vulnerable in Budget Debate
Statewide advocacy groups will call on
the legislature to abandon a “shared pain” approach to resolving the state budget
deficit, point out the drastic cuts social service programs have already endured,
and urge elected officials to protect Michigan’s depleted social safety net as the
2009-2010 state budget is finalized.
