It has come down to this for Allen Park: Win or pack up the gear.
Allen Park, which won its fifth game Oct. 5 at Anderson, is still looking for its six win, the one that clinches and automatic playoff berth.
Standing in Allen Park’s way is archrival Melvindale.
The Cards are 4-4 and stand a chance of slipping into the playoffs through the back door as a five-win team with a victory Friday.
The Jags did not have a good game last week in their loss to Downriver League tri-leader Roosevelt.
Allen Park had fewer than 150 yards on offense and although Wyandotte only scored 27 points, that low total of mostly due to crucial Bear fumbles and penalties.
Jake Makowski, Aaron Letinski, Dylan Pippin and quarterback Nick Fulton were held pretty well in check by the Bears, although Makowski did catch a touchdown pass and Jake Barann had several big catches.
For Melvindale, quarterback Jason Doyle and receiver DiaZoun Oliver are one of the top pass-catch combos in the area and the Cards rolled last one-win Kennedy last week, but they still have a way to go to make up for a disappointing upset loss in Trenton two weeks ago.
